New Years on the Heels of the Tsunami
Namaste Friends,
It's interesting how this year we are beginning the New Year on the heels of a major tragedy. We all feel tremendous sadness at the lost of innocent life and so much devastation. It's so apparent how life is so fragile and every day so precious.

I'm inspired by the stories I've shared in this issue and also by the relief work of so many humanitarian organizations. I'm especially impressed with Ammachi's relief efforts and her donating 1 billion rupees (23 million dollars) toward tsunami relief. I recommend donating towards her tsunami relief fund. New Year's Resolution Story
On the first Monday in January last year (2004) a friend of mine's sister-in-law was car pooling with co-workers to work. They saw a heavy set woman jogging and they joked with each other saying "yeah right, I wonder how long that New Year's resolution will last?!!!!"

The next day the same woman was jogging at the same time during their car pool and the day after that. After several weeks they stopped joking and started commenting how "wow, she's sticking with it" and "hasn't she lost some weight?!"

Every day for months they saw the same lady jogging. In November they saw her picture on the front page of the sports section because she'd won a 10k race.

This is the kind of focus and determination we need to make real changes in our life.

Amazing Tsunami Story
About 20 minutes before the first wave hit in Phuket Thailand nine elephants who gave tourist rides broke free from their chains and started climbing a hill bellowing loudly. The the waves hit. After the waves subsided, the elephants charged down the hill and started picking up children with their trunks and running them up back up the hill. When all the children were taken care of, they started helping adults.

They rescued 42 people. Then they returned to the beach and carried up dead bodies and moving wreckage.

Their 6th sense saved them and because of that they were able to save many people. How much more helpful can we (humans) be if we followed our intuition!
