In the spring of 2000 I had the great privilege of spending a month in New Delhi, India studying at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, the largest astrology school in the world. Today there are over 850 students and 26 teachers! For me, it was like an International Symposium on Vedic Astrology every weekend. I was thrilled.
My astrology teacher, Sri K.N. Rao, whom I met in the US in 1993, had started the school in 1987 in order to provide a means for students to learn astrology through a systematic and scientific approach based in modern research. Now the school produces a quarterly magazine distributed worldwide and has published over 40 books based on their research findings. It's a very exciting place to visit that I'd recommend to anyone.
It's interesting that in 1980 a great yogi, Yogi Moorkhanandji, had predicted to K.N. Rao that there would soon be a renaissance in Vedic astrology and that he would be instrumental in making it happen. This seemed rather unlikely at the time, as Rao was working full time at a government job and only able to devote evenings and weekends to astrology. Within a few years, however, Rao opened his school in New Delhi and today the school has become highly successful, attracting more and more students all the time.
