Interpreting
the Sun in Astrology

Fill
in the following sentence:
"
I am a _________ (insert your Sun Sign) living
the life of a __________ (insert the sign corresponding
to the house your Sun is in)." If you don't
know how to fill in the second blank, keep
reading and then come back to this when you
can.
The Sun is your "hero(ine)'s path," and shows
qualities needed for self-realization and life
purpose; One's Sun is a dominant dimension
of oneself, and shows strong conscious and
unconscious tendencies on many levels, qualities
which may be blocked, exaggerated, or both.
To get a sense of what the Sun is like, read
everything about Leo/5th House in section one
of the course/tutorial. Enter
section one.
To study your Sun, go through the first section
of the tutorial (Using
parts 1 & 2 of the Course/Tutorial Together)
and consider the following things about your
Sun sign (or the astrological
letter corresponding to that sign):
I recommend going through the list twice:
1) On the first reading, think about how these
qualities represent a path of deep fulfillment
for you.
2) On the second reading, think about how you
may exaggerate some of these qualities.
Begin here
Then find out which house your Sun is in. This
is one of the primary areas of life in which
you will forever live (although your Sun will
also progress into the next houses throughout
your life, which adds to, but does not replace
the natal house of the Sun).
Read the description of that house in The
Astrological Alphabet and
note the sign that corresponds with that house.
As you did above with your Sun Sign, read all
of the relevant material for the sign/letter
associated with the house your Sun is in section
one.
Whereas the Sun Sign indicates the basic, core
personal(ity) energy which must be contacted,
fulfilled, and moderated, the Sun's House tends
to indicate what is done with that energy or
the types of activities you will be most drawn
towards to fulfill that energy.
Combine the Sun Sign and Sun House to see one
of the most important ways of understanding
your life purpose. You can contrast the Sun
Sign and House with the Moon Sign and House
because the Sun shows where you want to go,
whereas the Moon shows where you've already
been. The Sun shows fulfillment, whereas the
Moon shows some regression. This is like the
vantage point of the Sun, fulfilling the heroic
quest and banishing the lazy elements. You'll
find a different approach on the last paragraph
on the page for the Moon.
