Tuesday, July 29th


This is an amazing day. Holy Leo, Batman. Practically every benefic ("nice guy") planet in the sky is joining together in Leo for just this one day. While today carries a very unusual energy, this will also continue in many ways for the next 10 days or so as well. Enjoy watching and living this one, because the planets are very rarely this focused on one sign in such a light-and-easy way. What might all of this mean?

For one, it's not exactly a natural day for quiet contemplation and objectivity. It's more a day of riding the tidal wave of passionate, fiery energy coming over us all; and for fire signs this will be unbelievably pronounced. Whatever Leo symbolizes in your own birth chart will overflow with opportunity today (for Pisces, Virgo, and Capricorn this may have a more challenging flavor, though). If astrologers determined our own yearly holidays, according to the actual planetary locations in every given year, today would have to be some kind of sacred day where no one would work and everyone would play. It's that powerful. Visualize everyone collectively celebrating the uniqueness of this fun, solar day. That, I think, is what would be happening if humanity was more attuned to the awesome symbolism of astrology.

While the planetary energies will probably lead us to some kind of overindulgence and excess (these are things to be careful of, you know), if you wanted to, this would be about as powerful a day as you could imagine to tune into Spirit in a deeper way as well, although this would take some real mindfulness because we're likely to be so high on these natural vibrations. Saturday - Monday, July 26th - 28th


There is a kind of planetary gear shift today as the energies of the New Moon are coming to life. What can we expect for the next couple of weeks? While there seems to be some emphasis on relationship, at the same time this desire looks like it will be countered or thwarted in some ways. One or both partners in any equation are likely to feel very independent, so that the emotional connections of the last couple of weeks should be much harder to come by. Add to this that anger and hostility are at a kind of high point, while we will be finding it harder than normal to express these intense feelings. And those with "wandering eyes" should think very seriously about the repurcussions of any dishonest sexual encounters for these next couple weeks.

At the same time, it looks like we could have a ton of fun over these next two weeks, even moreso if we can navigate through some relationship challenges with consideration and awareness of others. To a large extent, we need to be our own person right now, and at times that will have nothing to do with what the person sitting next to us wants to do. Just don't hurt anyone because of this, and things are looking pretty bright and amazing. This could be an unbelievable time for a vacation.

But I have one other "but." International events could run into a big patch of intensity. This seems like a very good time for prayers for peace around the world.

The Full Moon on Sunday is strongly in effect for the next couple of weeks. This Full Moon looks sort of "all over the place" in its energies. Some of its energies are very mental, some are very emotional, some are very serious and devoted, and some are very light. Gee, that really narrows things down, huh? Let's call this Full Moon, "The Incredible Buffet of Life."

What I can say is that the energy is very high, and also that it offers rewards for those in any kind of partnership with others. This is no milquetoast of a Full Moon. All of the above areas are going to experience some very powerful stimulation, giving us a wide variety of powerful experiences over the next couple of weeks. Another way to summarize these new and upcoming energies could be "Doing Your Duty ... Well." Whether it's your heart or your mind that is the main ingredient for you of doing your duty well, you will have some very powerful assets and universal energies on your side for the next couple of weeks. Trying to keep everything balanced in the midst of all of these powerful urges and experiences--well that's going to be the interesting part.


Friday, July 25th


This is an unusually remarkable day for writing, self-expression, and mental creativity. Without some focus on these things, stress, indecision, and worry could be dominating forces. Absolute and total concentration is the goal, but this will require a great deal of self-control. 'Time to see if we're the master of our own selves. Today will give us at least the opportunity to "bust out." These same energies could be expressed through playing games, but then this would not offer the same mental stability. Also watch out for mentally puffed up, stubborn, or dogmatic states to create more strife and separation.

We're in a time period for the next week-and-a-half (this was also in effect this week) that should see a fair share of conflict and aggression. To avoid the harsh side of this as much as possible, get your rear in gear and get passionate about something. The planets are giving us all a boost of self-confidence right now, so no more excuses. It's now or never, baby. That is, unless you're just really enjoying the planetary energies speaking of rejuvenation and recreation. That works too, if you're okay with the occasional eruption and undercurrent of disdain. It's a tough call between directing all of that anger creatively or relaxing while having to put up with some of the feelings of hostility that are going around.

Express love creatively to others today, and don't rock any more boats than necessary.

Things look quite volatile around mid-to-late afternoon, but there looks to be an opportunity to smooth those vibrations out somewhat by the early evening. Before we get to that point, it might be wise to hold our tongues if we notice we're about to slap someone silly with them. Other daily energies are emphasizing the relatively new planetary emphasis on rediscovering ourselves and feeling an inner permission to focus on ourselves again. Some of the daily astrology looks good for being organized and clear mentally.

It looks like we're going to have a few "check-ins" with the planets today. This could have something to do with whether or not our compassionate creativity is in full swing. If not, look for a plate or two to fly across the room unassisted and a damsel to scream unexpectedly in distress. In other words, something weird and jarring to wake us up.

We're in a time period for the next week-and-a-half (this was also in effect the last few days) that should see a fair share of conflict and aggression. If you don't feel caught up with yourself yet, today might be the day to do it. While some elements of the day look a bit restless, there are some other elements that look rejuvenative ... which does make this a somewhat complex day. Look for some changes in plans or thinking to occur.

There is also a kind of pole shift happening today from yin to yang energies. So much of the weight of the planets had recently been pulling us towards caring for others, even to a fault. Now the pendulum swings back the other way, and it may feel like a brave new world of self-centeredness has opened up for us. We may not have seen our own faces in the mirror for a while, after looking so much at others. Now we should get more than a good look at that beaming beauty we call "myself."

At the same time, strange rumblings are underfoot. If you haven't felt some conflict and chaos wandering about the streets of planet Earth, just stay tuned for the next couple of weeks. Tuesday, July 22nd


For at least a month now, we've had a very serious visit with the constellation known as Cancer. More than just any normal July, this year brought more than the average stroll down home and family lane. This time, it's personal ... nah, I'm just being dramatic. But seriously folks, this time brought much more serious family issues to the surface and/or much more of a practical and grounded focus to the realms of home and real estate. This likely went along with a much more serious mood of responsibility to those we care for and about.

There is a very important key to the journey we began about a month and a half ago: Remember the past, not as you wish it to be, but as it really was. That, my friends, is one of the very most important sentences I will write to you during these times. If you want to cooperate with the messages encoded in the planets over the next couple of years, I would strongly recommend remembering that one and taking it to heart. Being as aware as we possibly can be of the harder elements of our past can help prevent similar episodes from needing to happen again. And when that old stuff is triggered, be sure to try to see the connection with the distant past, building a bridge between then and now.

Well some, but not all, of the intensity and focus on this Cancerian realm is drawing to a close today. For most, the swing back towards good old fashioned fun, creativity, and me, me, me picks up considerable speed starting tomorrow. In the meantime, hold up a flickering lighter, put on that old 8-track of Free Bird, and shed a tear over the one that got away. Monday, July 21st


This day might have a kind of blank-slate potential to it. One theme could be that of trying to restore balance and equilibrium after an interesting last week with various energies all over the place. It looks like this could be our day to catch our breath. Humility could be significant theme today as well, and coming back down to earth after a very active or expansive time just recently.

One thing that could interfere with the balancing potential of today is the negative thoughts within our own minds. Many people will probably resist some of the potential and choose to stay in old, negative thought habits. Some will probably open up to some kind of higher spiritual knowledge, moving themselves towards more peace and understanding. By the end of the day, at least some kind of movement spiritually upwards in our thinking seems likely to have come about, unless one is quite stuck in some very heavy mental habits. Being open and receptive to spiritual Grace will go a long way today. This could be a very good time to focus on letting any old resentments go.

Today I get the sense of two major themes, and I think that it could be an either/or kind of situation for us today. The first situation says: have fun. Have serious, total, intense, all-out fun. The second situation says: focus yourself and your aspirations to bring about greater personal power. Or maybe it's a hybrid, saying focus seriously on having fun. Or maybe it's another kind of hybrid saying to have fun with being seriously focused. Anway, I think you can see the two ingredients by now. We'll see how it plays out.

Also look for at least some emphasis on holistic matters today. Maybe you've got something to share. Maybe there's something for you to receive.

It looks like something is ready to end today, and that something has a lot to do with something in our minds. Or something like that. This is not the best day to be stubborn. You can be stubborn, of course, but you'll be much better off by practicing letting go. The spiritual men may be separated from the boys today. Can you open to whatever's right and release ideas or paths that are no longer right for you? Only your resistance to this process of transformation could cause you real problems under these influences.

If you can let go, something greater will soon come about to replace the old, stinky ideas that may be cluttering things up in your life right now. Sometimes what's best for us is, of course, not what we want to think is best for us. Today, a spiritual awakening of some sort could follow if we first pass this test. Here's a hint: ask God to help you with it --> piece of cake.

Friday, July 18th


It's quite possible that we could have a lot on our minds today. There is a process of redirection or focusing that has been occuring in our relationships, or within the realms of home and family, this week, and we're reaching the end of this dramatic influence--or at least the most dramatic part of it, anyway. Today will bring a lot of people more emotional drama as well. We could experience some major endings today, so be prepared to release and let some things go if necessary.

Another thing to be mindful of is impulsiveness when it comes to things like food, sex, and intoxicants. This looks like a good day to practice finding positive applications of "emptiness," such as silence and meditation, and to be mindful of moderation. Without a conscious effort at emptying the mind, we could feel somewhat stirred up.

There are a couple of very significant things happening today. Pay good attention to your intuition today because I think you'll have a chance to tune into something very important about your spiritual growth. This could have a lot to do with some of the very expansive opportunities in career (or home) realms over the last month or so. This is also a great day to be of service to others, particularly with any of your mental or intuitive gifts.

I think we're still cooling down from a flood of powerful astrological movements in June. Today the planets give us a few interesting clues about the day's energies.

There seems to be an orientation towards larger social interests, groups, and causes today. In particular, those with any kind of mental mastery in their field could see a nice boost in their work, or just an opportunity to express their expertise.

Later tonight some relationship difficulties could be a reality; if this isn't felt today, it is likely to be felt tomorrow. This seems unlikely to be a major trend, however; it looks more like a short-term event that could help redirect our relationship and heart energies in some way. However, since relationships are in a very dramatic and sensitive period, emotions could be pretty high under this influence. If so, it is a chance to be in our hearts and simply feel whatever comes up with compassion.


Monday, July 14th


Many of the same radically dynamic energies are present today, just as they were yesterday. The dramatic nature of the Full Moon is much less of an influence today, though still certainly in operation on a smaller level. But a couple of the comments I made yesterday ought to be true today, if they were not already yesterday:

"Emotions are likely to be ... high today, but it's very possible that an emphasis on pure, true love will prevail under these influences, especially for those whose hearts are open to this possibility. We could also mentally receive some very powerful ideas or intuitions today. The mind should have some great, stimulating material to chew on."

One of the major themes today is that of breaking free from whatever intense situations may have been recently present. The planets are still reaching a miniature emotional and mental crescendo, but the feeling present may be that of liberation from any of the heavy and excessively dutiful energies of the Full Moon. It looks like it's time to ride the wave to the top of the crest and receive whatever download the universe has for you today. Think and feel outside of the box, and you'll do just fine.

This looks like an incredibly dynamic day. There is so much happening that I'm looking forward to seeing some very interesting astrology unfold today.

For one thing there is a bit of an overall shift to more fun-oriented energies that begins today. It may be pretty subtle at first, but that is a trend that should continue to unfold and reach a kind of peak in a couple of weeks.

The Full Moon of course brings a lot of emotions up from the depths, and confrontations with subconscious energies or memories that have been suppressed in some way. I would try to bring compassionate, loving awareness to any childhood patterns that are triggered.

This may as well be a three-day weekend, starting today, because today's planets have "mini-vacation" written across them. The day calls for:

The planets today seem to be flashing some sort of gaudy, pink neon sign about relationships, sexuality, and intimate connections. All of the above are likely to see some kind of boost of attention in our life experience today. Some people will take these same energies and open their hearts wider to loving and serving others. And some of the odd energies of the last couple of days are likely to be absent now.

There's also a theme of personal strength and power in pursuing our desires today. As long as you can avoid unnecessary conflicts today, the planets will generally be offering a little something for everyone. If either love or power turn you on (and that probably describes everyone), there should be something exciting for you in the heavenly skies today. And that leads me to ask, what turns you on more? Love or Power? It could be an interesting question to look at today.


Wednesday, July 9th


The big picture right now says a lot about simply maintaining things, after all of the intensity, opportunity, and/or action of recent weeks. The planets are relatively dormant now, but of course there's always something going on.

The early part of the day could give us a nice opportunity for deeper insight and/or communication. But the most intriguing part of today is in the latter part of the day. Emotions are likely to be particularly intense, and it's quite possible that we'll go through a bit of a psychological purging, intended to bring us closer to our deeper Spirit/Self in the end. This could be a valuable time to turn to some kind of spiritual or esoteric alternatives for healing or insight.

Another important key could be that of focusing on ourselves rather than trying to change others. This is not the day to attempt to change anyone else. For one thing, people are likely to be too out of balance with themselves to be able to really listen, and this of course includes you and me. So let's work on that.

You might do yourself a favor today by looking in the mirror. As someone once said, you might have a mote in your own eye. Happy Birthday, Donald Rumsfield! : )


Tuesday, July 8th


Water, water everywhere. Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces) should buy lottery tickets (I'm kidding), invest in the stock market (I'm kidding), get married (kidding), and start new businesses today (still kidding). But seriously folks, it's an amazing day to be a water sign, and some degree of grace and universal french kissing appears to be in order for us, particularly in the early part of the day, and especially for the water-logged among us.

How might we work with this? Go deep. No, not so I can throw you a long pass (football joke, excuse me), but so that you feel your heart, your soul, and your connection to the Ultimate. Sit by the banks of your being for a while and listen to the stream, remaining spiritually open to receive. Magic could be in the air. Find humility, compassion, and healing. Transform from within your mind, heart, and spirit. Go inside.

Towards the second part of the day, the emotional and spiritual waters will likely be much harder to navigate consciously. Make sure you are being honest with yourself emotionally, and rather than avoiding or looking away, go right into the heart of your experience. In other words, just feel. No distractions.

True story: When I lived on Maui I saw Prince shopping for tofu at a health food store. I walked up to him to tell him how much I've loved his music, but his bodyguard stopped me before I could. All he would say was, "We's just trying to chill right now." Later tonight, I pray we all heed the words of Prince's bodyguard spoken to me on that tropical night. Repeat: "We's just trying to chill right now."

Just keep rolling down hill today. But by this point, some reflections are probably also in order. How do you feel about all of the recent opportunities you've been given? Do you need to cut back on anything? Shift direction a little bit? Fine tune where you're headed? Ponder. Rather than feeling propelled out of a cannon (which is what we've become used to of late), you can actually think about where you're going for a change. Remember what that felt like?

One of the big short-term transitions that has recently been underway is from a more socially and mentally stimulating mood to a more feeling and intimacy oriented one. After today, that transition will be fully complete. But it practically feels like we're there already, since it's our social energies that are feeling all grown-up, and our emotional energies that are feeling more raw and wild.

By the way, if you know any Scorpio Sun or Rising Signs folks, get ready to start rubbing their bellies for luck starting tomorrow. Expansion has been on the planetary news channel like white on rice over the last month or so. Today is no different in this respect. Expansion is still the Soup du Jour. But there is a difference today.

So much of the recent expansion has been very worldly. Today, more "spiritual" planetary energies rule the day. I'm sure we could really use a nice dose of spiritual and emotional clarity by now. And to a significant extent, we will get it today.

Which means, this could really be your day to get back in tune with your Spirit. Be open, open, open. Tune in, turn on ... or is that turn in, tune on? I don't know, but you get it, right?

Tuesday, July 1st:

Today has "action" written all over it. After feeling spaced out and emotional for a couple of days, the planets come roaring back now to give us something to do with all of the immense potential that the planets have been building up. What responsibilities have you been tuning into recently? Today is a great day to act on what you've been sensing you need to do.

Expansion, expansion, expansion. At some point things have to contract. But not quite yet. Almost, but not quite yet. For now, it's time to apply our power and "get the job done."

I'd be a bit careful, though, about how you are expressing yourself today. Be more aware of yourself so that you aren't combatative or mean. Other than this caveat, today has "go for it" written all over it. Big things can start happening now. Recent, positive opportunities can turn a new corner and we can begin to improve on some of our new inspirations.

Monday, June 30th:

This is a really weird day. I expect that many will feel it as particularly emotional, despite the way the mind could also feel so stimulated today. For some, the mind will be obscured with heavy issues; for others, the mental outlook will be brilliant and practical. The water signs are the most likely to feel the best of this.

We will probably feel a nice mental flow going in the morning, particularly for those on Eastern or Central time. After this, things get a lot more serious. Will it be social or creative fears? Communication difficulties? Family issues? And/or, focus and commitment with our work?

There has been a lot of potential building for some time now. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow are likely to form an important period of thinking about and communicating with others about some of the opportunities we've been having. The events of today are going to determine a lot about where things are really going for us. Yet, if possible, try not to start anything too big today. I think today is a good day to tune in more deeply to yourself and where you really want to go, rather than taking major inititiating action.

Oh, the planets, they are a-changin'. Well, a little bit anyway. Have you felt the emotion of the last few days? It is now most definitely that Cancerian season of the year, and this gives us a great time to check back in with our families and our past. Is it ever possible to "go home again?." 'Time to find out. In particular, this Cancer season is a particularly good time to "work the land," whether that be the earth or the home. The last couple of days have brought some emphasis on the independent and fun side of life. We're likely to be feeling more of an emphasis on responsibility, intimacy, and emotions now, for about the next 2-3 weeks.

It looks like the universe may give us a couple of days to try to get used to these shifts. We're likely to ease our way into them, so it's a great time to relax and just openly see where the vibes take us.

But at the same time I think we can still expect to see a lot of the opportune energies that have been in place for the last couple of weeks to continue. It remains a very, very powerful time to focus on creative, mental, and commercial projects. In particular, today's astrology should give everyone a kind of mental boost, particularly later on in the day. It's like a gingko biloba infusion from the planets. Creative ideas and intuition are at a high peak, so take advantage of this time period if you can, in whatever ways you can.

It might be nice to reflect on the last week, and it's dramatic extremes. Notice the abundance theme, and all of the ways that this manifested in social and mental realms (this may just be in new opportunities/situations/people that presented themselves). But other influences were bringing us a sudden jolt in ways that may not have felt very easy to assimilate. It wouldn't be a bad idea to feel very thankful for the expansion that has been there, and to bring more pure awareness to the difficult issues that have been triggered. Bringing attention to feelings and reactions could give us a powerful experience of our depths at this time.
